Saskatoon History Review No. 32 Launch – January 25th

Join the Saskatoon Heritage Society for the launch of Saskatoon History Review No. 32 on Wednesday, January 25th at 7pm with contributors Cheryl Avery, Gwen Wright (not pictured), David Geary, Ken Pontikes, and Jeff O’Brien, who is also our guest host for the evening. The Saskatoon Heritage Society is proud to bring you a new issue of the Society’s annual journal Saskatoon History Review No. 32 2022. Once again we have a variety of articles and many photographs. Cheryl Avery of the University Archives brings us stories and pictures from the early days of the University Farm and its iconic stone barn. Gwen Wright, owner of Houghton Boston Printers, the Society’s printer, recounts the proud history of the company’s “100 year journey of printing on the prairies”. Join David Geary on a nostalgic photographic trip, remembering Saskatoon’s drive-in restaurants and theatres. Ken Pontikes tells the story of the rise and fall of Saskatoon’s social gambling clubs. And finally, Jeff O’Brien, City of Saskatoon Archivist, brings to life the history of Saskatoon’s Immigration Hall, once referred to as “a semblance of home”....
