Saskatoon Heritage Society runs a series of walking tours throughout the city each year hosted by Saskatoon’s top historians including Terry Hoknes, Dianne Wilson, Peggy Sarjeant and Jody Cason.  Previous tours have also been guided by Bill Delainey and Al Morton.

2025 WALKING TOURS SCHEDULE

Sunday June 29. History of Downtown Saskatoon (1.5 hrs.)

Led by local historian Terry Hoknes. Meet Bessborough Hotel 2pm

Sunday July 6. Moose Jaw Trail (1.5 hrs.)

Led by local historian, Dianne Wilson. By 1883, new settlers to the Temperance Colony could take the CP Railway from Winnipeg to Moose Jaw, then transport their possessions overland to Saskatoon. Discover the remains of the ruts created by the wheels of their countless carts. Meet Mark Thompson Park, Stonebridge. 2pm

Sunday July 13. History of 20th Street West, Riversdale

Led by local historian Terry Hoknes. Meet at parking lot at Ave. B and 20th St. 2pm.

Sunday August 3. On Safari in downtown Saskatoon.

A super fun adventure for all ages led by Jody Cason. Discover fossils in the walls and steps of buildings and find other animals gracing building facades.

Meet at bus stand outside the Bessborough, 2pm.

Sunday August 10. Old Nutana, Broadway Avenue, Marr Residence

Led by local historian Dianne Wilson. Meet Marr Residence, 326, 11th Street East, 2pm.

Sunday August 17. Next-of Kin Memorial Avenue, Woodlawn Cemetery.

Peggy Sarjeant celebrates this little-known National Historic Site, a war memorial to the fallen soldiers of WWI. Meet at the second set of gates leading into the Cemetery, 2pm.

Sunday August 31. Drive-in Restaurants and Baby Boomer 8th Street history

Walk through the ‘50’s and 60’s on 8th Street with local historian, Terry Hoknes.

Meet at Pink Cadillac restaurant, 2600 8th Street, 2pm.

Sunday September 14. Pioneer/Nutana Cemetery (1.5 hrs.)

Tour Saskatoon’s original cemetery (1884- 1948) with local historian Dianne Wilson and listen to stories of the intrepid settlers of the early days of the Temperance Colony. Meet at the cemetery, Ruth Street and St Henry Avenue, 2pm.Sunday September 21. History of 33rd Street.

Led by local historian, Terry Hoknes. Meet at Fresh Co parking lot, 33rd St and Ave. C, 2 pm
