Moose Jaw Trail Guided Walking Tour

On September 15, come take part in a guided walking tour and see the remains of the Moose Jaw Trail, a 240km wagon cart trail that brought settlers from Moose Jaw to Saskatoon in the 1880s. The tour will take place at 2pm and be led by Cam Patterson, landscape architect, and Dianne Wilson, a local historian. The tour will meet on Rempel Manor by the North Entrance to the park. Peggy Sarjeant from the Saskatoon Heritage Society will lead a historical walk along the beautiful Memorial Avenue leading to Woodlawn Cemetery. This avenue of elm trees honours the servicemen and women who died during World War l and has been recognized as a National Historic Site. Meet at second set of gates leading into the Cemetery proper, outside the former office building, now a Memorial business. Jane’s Walk: The History of Montgomery Place

Led by Barb Biddle, we will walk and visit some of our history signs offering people a chance to learn about the history of Montgomery Place as a community for WWII soldiers returning from war. We will walk from Montgomery School along Dieppe Street, Lancaster Boulevard, and Caen St. ending at the monument to our veterans in the Northwest corner of Montgomery Park.

Jane’s Walk: The Moose Jaw – Saskatoon Trail Walking Tour

The tour will be led by Cam Patterson, landscape architect who designed the park, and Dianne Wilson, local historian with a special interest in early Saskatoon history. View the remnants of the trail used by many early pioneers to arrive in what was then the Temperance Colony of Saskatoon, in a setting of original native prairie/parkland within the city limits.
